ADHD Affected by seasonal allergies

[ad_1]

Ever wonder why ADHD child’s symptoms seem worse at certain periods of the year? Doctors from the Long Island College Hospital recently discovered that seasonal allergies can worsen the symptoms of ADHD. It’s long been known that children with ADHD are more likely to suffer from allergies than other children, and these findings provide increasing support rigorous evaluation period and drug-free, natural ADHD management.

The study was presented at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, involved 20 adolescents diagnosed with ADHD. All participants had a family history of chronic allergies, but only two had been previously tested for allergy symptoms. At the beginning of the study participants were screened for allergic rhinitis and given a blood test to check if allergic to dogs, cats, feathers, trees, grass, mold and cockroaches. These tests showed that eight of the teenagers had atopic asthma, allergic rhinitis were three, and nine scored positive on allergy tests at least once. Fifteen were also found to have at least two symptoms of allergy.

These findings led the researchers to conclude that children and adolescents with ADHD can be diagnosed allergies, and some of their symptoms could worsen from allergies themselves and sleep problems they cause (eg nasal obstruction at night). The researchers also made strong recommendations that children with ADHD to test for allergies to help them overcome their symptoms.

And what do you do when you find that your ADHD child is triggered by environmental allergies? First, find out what your child is allergic to. Traditional allergy tests can tell if mold, dust, pollen, or animal fur is responsible for the symptoms of the child. However, it is also possible for the child to be allergic to food; for this you need a specialized test as manual muscle testing. Allergic reactions to food can be avoided by placing the child on ADHD diet

Here are some tips that will keep your allergic reactions under control, without the use of drugs :.

  • Vacuum at least once a week with a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. This will prevent dust from flying in the air.
  • Give your child dust mask before you go out in the spring and fall. It may look silly, but a dust mask can actually presented pollen, dust and air pollution, mold spores. Research from Woodcock Institute of Medical Research gave 70 adults with fall allergies either mock filter or pollen filter. The subjects sat for two hours in the park known for high concentrations of pollen in the air. Paper filters were able to prevent or reduce allergies as sniffles, sneezing, watery eyes, itching, and itchy throat.
  • Use a dehumidifier to control the development of molds in the house, especially in basements and attics.
  • Try Pycnogenol supplementation. Pycnogenol extraction, French maritime pine tree, has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe allergy symptoms and help kids with ADHD. In a randomized, placebo-controlled study of Masah University of Medical Science looked at 26 patients with asthma and found that those who took Pycnogenol supplements had lower levels of inflammatory related asthma attacks.
  • Please try butterbur. According to a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of Nine Wells Hospital, this herb can block the Biochemicals that provoke allergic reaction to grass pollen.

Excessive mucus and Allergy Connection: How to Get Rid of mucus permanently

[ad_1]

Tired of swallowing pills and use a nasal spray with no end in sight? I can relate, I used to be there yourself. Four years ago sinus my struggle was when I was liberated from all sinus disease. I will share with you some of the simple things I did which resulted in permanent relief, not only for me, but for others too who were willing to go unconventional. Here are some of the things we did that prove to be effective in reducing excessive mucus significantly or totally eliminate it

The mucus function

But first, a word about our must mucus. A normal amount of one to two pints of day will pass through the sinus and nasal cavities and channels every day – to keep our breathing apparatus function healthily. This explains why the main function of the membranes lining the area to produce mucus. They protect our respiratory organs from pollens, dust, bacteria, particles, etc.; and also explains why a constant flow of clear, watery mucus – not green or yellow mucus – is natural and important to sinus health. How then do we our “good sinus mucus” from becoming great? Here are some proven tips

Hypersensitivity irritation

Probably high mucus is the result of allergic irritation caused by the environment and increase by some of the foods we eat. Yet, unknown to many, house dust is invisible culprit behind much allergic suffering, and that puts the production of histamine – a clear, watery mucus so common allergy season or all year if you are allergic to dust. Try this experiment: put the nose near carpet or overstuffed furniture and breathe deeply. If you are allergic to dust you will know it within seconds: itchy eyes, coughing, difficulty breathing, sneezing, etc. If that happens and given the intensity of reaction and frequency, you need to decide whether to try regular antihistamines, or seek assistance. Sometimes household pet dander ‘dust factor causing the problem and can be isolated and dealt with.

Foods to avoid

Dairy products and sugar in most cases will not increase allergic reactions and excessive mucus issue. I know people who eliminate these two from their diet for four to five days, and the results were so convincing that they substantially reduce the use of these two foods permanently. In fact, excessive mucus is no longer the case at all for them.

Green and yellow mucus

These colored mucus, but very common in some cases, is indicative of health issues that need our attention. They often tell us that there is an infection in various states of progress being fought by the immune system. One way to make them more acceptable to drink 5-6 glasses of water a day; to help his way through breathing apparatus and help the immune system do its job. Abstain from mucus producing foods such as sugar and dairy products, as already mentioned, will also help reduce their annoyance. These two mucus should not have as much as possible, to absorb. One OTC remedy that helps to release it so it can be expelled is guaifenesin. Why not try some of these suggestions? Risk is minimized while the potential results can be very rewarding.

Allergies – How Natural perfumes can cause allergic

[ad_1]

Allergies are a way of life with some people. Do exactly what causes their allergies is difficult to do because others in their lives. Perfume is one of the most common reactors in subjects with allergic rhinitis allergies. Some actually believe that natural is better than synthetic perfumes.

Recently it has been studied at the University of Gothenburg shows that natural aromatic oils can cause contact dermatitis or eczema-provoking allergens. We have been told by aroma therapists to natural oils do not cause any type of reaction. This has been proven false by a real life study. Guess there will be some review of what goes in advertising essential oils now.

I have one client who is a Universal Reactor and can not get around any perfume or essential oils. She leads a very lonely life, but is a real life survivor Chemical Sensitivity. She was poisoned by pesticides and is determined to continue with their lives, no matter what is thrown her way. She is an inspiration to others and helps them to understand how to deal with their allergies.

Natural Lavender oil was investigated by Lina accustomed, a researcher at the University of Gothenburg. The results showed that individuals fragrances or essential oils are not as healthy as reported. Her research showed that essential oils do not prevent the formation of allergenic substances. This is going to be a big hit in the theory of natural materials are healthy for us. The study showed just the opposite. I’m sure there will be some kind of backlash from this study, more information needs to uncover the whole story.

I personally use some of the essential oils will be a little more careful in my choice of what to use now. Peppermint is the favorite, but it will be used less now. I have one friend who is allergic to the smell of peppermint essential oil, now I know why. I thought she was just allergic to me, now I know better. Guys and girls, you need to watch your essential oils, could be a real turn off your partner.

Allergies can be frustrating than dealing with them is a matter of survival for some individuals. If you think you are having a severe reaction to natural essential oils, consult your doctor for more information. This study of lavender oil to light all parts of mother nature are not always good for us.

Sinus Pressure – The Allergy Connection

[ad_1]

How many times have you heard someone say. “I think I’m coming down with a cold?” No doubt many times. In fact, most of us have said or made a similar statement, us. Nowadays when someone I know tells me that I usually answer: “Could it be allergies?” Because many of these “cold” are probably allergic reactions to the environment. As I look back to my childhood days can not but wonder at the strong possibility that all these tablespoons of cod liver mom given faithfully —- full natural flavor, commonly done in those days – to prevent for my getting “cold,” not a bad idea was probably unnecessary, because frequent runny nose, my cough and post nasal drip was very likely due to allergen. Even, perhaps, of thick smog that had developed in a big city I grew up in.

When I learned my sinus problems for several years, I came to the conclusion that the two main causes of my problem was, some foods and environmental allergens. Whenever I indulged in a milk shake or large serving of ice cream I had severe post nasal drip a few hours. And when I had a big glass of cow’s milk 3 or more days in a row I had the same result. I would stop drinking milk for a few days or stop eating ice sinuses would clear up in a few days. As seemed to be the correlation was so obvious that I finally decided, a number of years ago, to stop using these foods regularly and, of course, sinuses cleared up indefinitely.

Then came spring time and as weeds and their flowers, trees and own their flowers made their appearance again in our area, the same allergic reaction I had food already mentioned, above, began to appear again, unless I was not using them. So it became obvious that I was allergic to certain pollens and probably other allergens. I had a pollen allergy test done and certainly there were some pollens I was very allergic. With these results in hand the only choice I had was: go to a place where there were not pollens I was allergic – probably something rather impossible – or begin to receive allergy shots regularly. I opted for the latter.

Several years passed and we moved further North where blankets are commonly used than in the Southwest and I began to once again have a “cold” symptoms. At least that’s what we thought at first. Since I was hardly with cows’ milk allergy injections had returned my wife and I thought, what could cause post nasal drip, etc., this time. So I went back to the specialist allergy testing new in our area. After doing some testing, he found that I was very allergic to dust. In the process of being given allergy testing I found that not all house dust is created equal. Some dust containing high levels of dust mite droppings. This type of mites thrive in humid and hot environment, like the one produced by the body while lying in bed, where the ants eat mostly microscopic particles of human skin to lubricate and blankets. The tests did show I was very allergies like dust. Then I got some counsel my doctor about how to protect my bed from small varmints and their droppings. Devastating allergy symptoms I had began to subside, especially when my allergies injection was added dust mite droppings antigen.

There can indeed be allergic connection with sinus pressure and other problems. My case is not unique. If one is suffering from an ongoing sinus problems it might not be a bad idea to consider testing for allergies to the environment and possibly food, especially if your health insurance covers this test.

Sinus Pressure – When House Dust allergy is the culprit

[ad_1]

Could cause sinus pressure nuisance phone lying deep in the carpet nap or rugs? House dust – and there are several types of it – is responsible for sinus irritation that produces extra mucus that can accumulate and create sinus pressure. I had allergy injections for years for pollens and to a lesser extend, dust, and I was doing pretty well. But then two years in a row I had serious problems sinus and I was surprised. This happened before I spent considerable time studying sinus my health situation of “choice” – using resources other than conventional medicine drug -. Stand point

I went to another allergy expert and a new set of allergy skin tests were conducted in several types of dust. The results were shown. I had been desensitized few pollens, but I was very allergic type dust that contains a lot of dust mite droppings, which, by the way, are microscopic. As you can see, the problem is not with the mites themselves, but “legacy” they leave behind, especially when they have ground to recreate in. What could the environment be?

Dust mites thrive in a surrounding that has three things: warmth, moisture, dead skin particles – that rubs off on the human body and mites used as food. Some scholars in this field even suggest that the most common house dust is made up, primarily, the latter factor. In particular, in my case, that could be an average one, we used regular cool steam humidifier in the bedroom – to keep sinuses moist at night so they would not swell from dryness, when the heat was on in the winter. The problem was that the water produced was to focus somewhat on the carpet in the area in front of the humidifier; thus becoming, unwittingly, a breeding ground for the little rascals. As they increased in numbers they spread all over the bedroom carpet and then transfer to the mattress. The body warmth and moisture and enough bits of dead skin provide ideal breeding sites for this microscope discomfort

solution :. Since dust mites is very difficult to kill, the solution had a few things:

  • I started getting allergy shots taylor-made for the house dust mites droppings heavy with ‘
  • We bought a special zippered bedding not allow mites to move from the mattress surface sheet
  • We continued to use a humidifier, but I raised it so the steam would disperse more
  • We vacuumed the carpet again, but use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to keep more of the dust within the machine

It worked. You might want to find out more about whether you may be allergic to house dust mites droppings’; especially if sinus pressure is a chronic one.
